The rope-fixing team for the Chinese Expedition reached the top of Everest today, after being thwarted on two previous attempts due to weather.

They hope to be followed by multiple teams of surveyors, scientists and climbers over the coming days. With light winds and minimal snow forecast this week, this may be the weather window they have really needed to get up and get their observations done this year.
Unlike early Chinese attempts when a summit was actually in doubt, this time they are releasing a summit video that we will hope to see soon. Their climb up a section lower on the North Ridge, complete with big boots and puffy suits is here.
The climbing team is listed as Dorjee Tsering, Tenzing Norbu, Dunpa, Tasha Gombu, Tsering Norbu and Dorjee – a list of seemingly Tibetan climbers who may well have been on rope fixing teams from previous years and know the mountain well.
